Und jetzt auf zu diesen phantastischen Bands:

Backwash

Spell this: 'Rock and roll' - r o c k a n d r o l l, right.
And again: r o c k a n d r o l l.
Not bad, but how about 'Kick Ass Rock'n'Roll'? - B A C K W A S H! Right!
Now get up and have yours kicked by glam swine Bob and Notter with their over-the-top troupe!

"One More Dollar" is taken from the EP Feel Rock (2003) which got Backwash into major deal discussions!
Forthcoming: a full-length album is about to be recorded in February 2005 and released in the summer.

Charing Cross

The eighties may have turned into the nineties, the nineties into the noughties, but Charing Cross couldn't care less! Hard rock to the left, heavy metal to the right, Charing Cross right in the middle with their EP "Back For Attack". - Twilight of the gods!

"Back For Attack" is taken from the EP Back For Attack (2004), recorded in Germany.

Corwen (formerly: Gumpen)

Corwen are the pivotal example why this compilation is necessary: here you have a breath-takingly amazing band of jacks-of-all-trades - be it doom, punk-thrash, nu metal, and a bull's balls full of idiosyncrasy - but nobody gives them the break they deserve. This is why Quam Libet Records pride themselves in hitching up with Corwen for the release of their first album!

"The Land Of Booze" is exclusively taken from the forthcoming album (2005), to be released on Quam Libet Records.
Forthcoming: Im Schatten des Lichts (album, 2005, on QLR).

DividingLine

How many hard rock bands are there still out there with an actual piano player whose voice is that of an angel? - DividingLine may have undergone a line-up change, but you still had better hold your breath what they'll come up next! Top notch melodies and classy arrangements will not be lost!

"Burning Sky" is taken from the EP Fly Away (2004).

Dragonflys

When we knew nothing but a low-quality bootleg recording of the band's rendition of "Through The Night" as performed as special guests to Edenbridge, we immediately knew who was to have the honour of closing this compilation with such a grand goth rock song, sending you home dreaming of sorrow and joy. This January, Dragonflys were offered a world-wide deal for their forthcoming album! That's what you get for putting the MP3 of "Through The Night" onto your website!

"Through The Night" is an exclusive 2004 Dragonflys recording for this compilation!
Sold out: In The Night (album)

Fatcap

Dirty, greasy and downright aggressive!
"Snatch Away" is an example of awesome song-writing! This song will have you walk around and repeat the phrase "Snatch away that sh!t" at any object you'll see. ... You'll see!
Fatcap do not have a web site, so you may want to check back with this site to obtain updates on the band's activities!

"Snatch Away" is taken from the forthcoming EP Off Course (2005).

In Your Face

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know what you're thinking, but just because there are no zits on these fellas' faces any longer, there's no reason why they ought to turn around, be serious and worry about money and mortgages all day. - They live and breathe rock'n'roll in a way younger bands can only marvel at. Plus, there is no way in hell you'll ever spot those lame "yeah, yeah, yeah"-ish AOR lyrics in their back catalogue!

"The Revenant" is taken from the album Frozen Fire (2004).
Also available: Now Or Never (album, 2000)

Mabon

It cut our hearts to settle for only one Mabon song - the non-hymnic battle hymn "Fight" on one hand, and the scathing "Witchfucker" (damn, what a title!) on the other ...! The band allowed us to settle for the treat: "Fight" is very much also the hymn of the Mabon fan club 'Mabon Friends', to whom the song had been exclusively released with the printed 'Mabon News' magazine. - It's great to be in your ranks, Mabonitos!

"Fight" was originally recorded for the Mabon Fan Club newspaper (2004) only.
Also available:
Demo-CD 1 (EP, 2003)
Demo 2 Live (EP, 2004)

Majesty Of Silence

MOS is probably the only Argovian black metal band known to blackies throughout Switzerland (but they can be found on compilations from all over the planet).
Just one problem: they "are" not black.
PeterChrisPeter couldn't care less about Old Nick and his consorts of fallen spirits. Instead, their lyrics very much deep-scan the human mind, the vastness of human emotions and the human awareness of existence; thus they celebrate joy and sorrow, bliss and oblivion in the most careful ways. - And that may very well entail the inclusion of a recorder ('Blockflöte') as featured on "Through Eternity".
In the course of 2005, their third album will follow 'darkness has no end' and 'but there's a light' into every Swiss metal fan's mind collection of cherished albums.

"Through Eternity" is exclusively taken from the forthcoming album (2005).
Also available:
darkness has no end (album, 1999)
but there's a light (album, 2003)
Forthcoming: a new album was recorded in 2004 for a summer release in 2005.

Nice

Nice make themselves hard to grasp: heavy and kicking on one album, melodious on the next, and now, there's another rocker is in the making.
The Challenge, which had spawned "Dr. Love" (no, for the umpteenth time: this is no Kiss cover; neither is the band related to the first "beat" band to record with a symphonic orchestra in the sixties!) rates as the middle one, and bets are still accepted as to what Nice will unleash in 2005!

"Dr. Love" is taken from the album The Challenge (2002).
Also available:
Nice (EP, 1998)
Moonlight (album, 1999)
Forthcoming: a new, heavily rocking album is to be released in 2005.

Other Fools

Other Fools are wearing boots, and you're in for stomping kicks when Marc questions the meaning of life on "So Fucking Why"!
Looking for a rocking summer hit for 2005? - Check out the name-sake song of the Other Fools' EP "Baby Radio":
"Baby Radio, play my song!" - You betcha it will!

"So Fucking Why" is an exclusive mix of the song taken from the album Baby Radio (2002).

Palmer

Is it dangerous? Is it a monster? Is it sheer power? - Whatever it is, Palmer are in to take over the Swiss metal scene, if we may believe their own words!
Another example of a healthy spirit in a healthy body, of tight song-writing and a top notch production that'll close in on you, left, right, and centre. - And when their EP appears to come to an end, there is even more: Steve's I-sh!t-ye-not top-notch music video to "Who Am I" promises we shall see more of his work on the screen soon enough!

"Who Am I" is taken from the EP Palmer (2004).

Pÿlon

When was the last time you heard of such a thing as 'doom rock'? - Eavesdrop on Pÿlon and you'll remember that doom was that type of music which sounded heavy even at a mere seventy-some bpm: power moves slowly. As a first impression of their forthcoming second album on Quam Libet Records, "To My Brethren" lashes out against missionary hypocrisy and is based on a poem from Malawi.
Quiz: What's one way for a band to figure on a compilation? - They arrange for one! ... Notably, however, this is also the most exhausting and time-consuming way, so don't gimme that eye!

"To My Brethren" is an exclusive Pÿlon pre-recording to the forthcoming album TEWB (2005), to be released on Quam Libet Records.
Also available: Natural Songbirth (album, 2004, on QLR)
Forthcoming: TEWB (album, 2005, on QLR).

Red Rain

Bassist Dino had us guess which of Red Rain's songs we thought best fitted on HEAVY METAL NATION. Now the question is on you.
- Here's trusting you'll even get up in the middle of the night, or whenever you feel like head-bangingly celebrating heavy metal, in order to turn up "Red Rain" to oblivion! - And let me tell you: when these guys play their name-sake song as their final live encore, they will leave the house reduced to shreds and grinning inanely! High speed energy throughout!

"Red Rain" is an exclusive 2005 Red Rain re-recording for this compilation!

Snook

'Punk'n'roll'? - SNOOK'n'ROLL!
Not many can do this, but Snook say it all in merely 2:16 minutes.
Sorry, Snooks, I wanted to rave on about your respectless "love us or hate us" attitude, your respectless "love us or hate us" songs, and Stutz' ingenuous "love it or hate it" voice, but you've really said it all!
"We are the rock stars" ... Really just a loo dream?!?

"Loo Dream" is taken from the EP Action Fuelled (2004).
Also available: A Bag Full Of Money And An Ass Full Of Rock (EP, 2003)

Tempesta

Sweet lord! Tempesta have sold six thousand copies of their home-produced third album, Platinum. - Hopefully, all those listeners endowed with such fine, tasteful hearing are lining up to carry this compilation away as well!
But then again, it's no suprise Tempesta should be well-received: their music is flawless, their humour - as rendered in (the cautiously-censored) "F***" - abounds and their web site is endearingly maintained and always worth a visit.
In December 2004, they've recorded their forthcoming album in Duisburg, Germany, and rumour has it that it will be a smash! There are the big shots queuing up behind the scenes ...!

"F***" is taken from the album Platinum (2003) - 6'000 copies sold!
Also available:
Depression (EP, 1995)
Slow (EP, 1999)
Three (single, 2001)
Forthcoming: FULLTIME JOKER - Fill The Voids (album, 2005)

Trinity

Another band of whom we may expect great successes in the very near future - and with the gentle help of this compilation and YOU, the heavy metal nation Switzerland will be brutally forced to marvel at the fantastic range of voices Emanuel has at his command, and at how much Sandro is one of the last true guitar gods! - Whatever Trinity puts out next, GO. AND. GET. IT. You'll sing the songs to yourself and keep yourself wide awake at night over their melodies.
.... Witnessing them perform live, clad in pure white, as music takes over is an experience not often paralleled!

"Take Away The Anger" is an exclusive 2005 Trinity re-recording for this compilation!
Also available: Deliverance (album, 2003)

United To Be Famous

How could you possibly look past this band's name? - Granted, it may not convey the shy Swiss attitude, but the music speaks for itself! Elaborate, and yet simply astonishing - just think of the breaks in the chorus of "Sun Of My Soul" - and definitely hymnic. united to be famous will go their way. After all, they had us go theirs: they wouldn't be utbf if they missed an opportunity to greet one of their favourite endorsers even in the HEAVY METAL NATION booklet.
Send us a postcard from the top, fellas, alright?

"Sun Of My Soul" is taken from the EP united to be famous (2004).
