Concerts / HEAVY METAL NATION IV Contest! / Band news Dear friends of loud guitars, The Back To Rock Festival 2007 was perfect! Absolutely perfect!   Many loved to see Sodom, Mystic Prophecy and Die Apokalyptischen Reiter live, but tell you what – MABON and BATTALION rocked the stage so hard that some of BATTALION’s fans fell off it. Well, actually, they went stage-diving which didn’t happen during any of the headliners’ shows! – Congratulations, boys! Matt and I had a great time as well in our merchandise tent where we got to meet many of you, have a chat and send you into the new week with great new music.

Soon, there will be such an event again – three, in fact!       This Saturday, 20Oct, we will have our booth at the Schweizer Metalbörse, a CD and vinyl fair at the Stadtsaal Zofingen (AG). This is a great place to visit when you’re looking for Deep Purple rarities, Dimmu Borgir bootlegs, classic Motörhead albums or brand new releases such as PUNISH. Don’t miss this – nobody leaves the Stadtsaal disappointed! With Katatonia autograph signing session!

Also this Saturday, 20Oct, in the evening, the True As Steel Festival threatens to blast the glass out of the Glasshouse, Bülach (ZH) with amusing bands such as Nanowar or the Grailknights (in their super-hero outfits), but also seriously true Swiss heroes: Tanelorn, Inishmore and … BATTALION!   This show will be filmed by a team of five camera people! Be there – we are!

Just one week later, on Sat 27Oct, the Metal Inferno IV will bring some serious metal to Lenzburg (AG): Nocturnal Rites and Thunderstone are imported, whereas Inishmore, Granit, Trickshot and Legenda Aurea will flex Swiss guitar muscles. – You ought to remember Legenda Aurea as the enchanting album closers of HEAVY METAL NATION III. Now take that magic and add some booty-kicking power and you’ve got their live show!     All concerts listed

Did I just mention HEAVY METAL NATION? –   What a coincidence: HEAVY METAL NATION IV is almost ready! We’ve had a very, very hard time to choose just 18 bands out of those who sent us their awesome music. Rest assured that this compilation will amaze you when it comes out before the end of the year!     HEAVY METAL NATION IV Contest!     At this point, seven people in the whole wide world know which 18 bands will be on HMN IV. But perhaps you have psychic powers (or a friend who knows the girl-friend of Matt's uncle's co-worker) and can guess which bands will be on the disc! Let me give you the short version of what some of our bands are doing these days:   1) BATTALION, as you have read, are getting ready for the True As Steel Festival, but they are also set to record their new album with Tommy Vetterli in 2008.   2) CORWEN have released their new album, 0307, independently. Of course, it's available at the Swiss Metal Mailorder and you can check it out at the events listed above. 3) MABON are currently tearing up the Newsound Studio as well as Tommy Vetterli's garage. We’re trembling to think what beast they will record this time … their first full-length album …!   4) PUNISH are warming up their fingers as well: by January 2008, the recordings for their third album will finished. 2008 will be a heavy, deadly year! But first, they will shake up the Deathfest Uri as co-headliners next to Illdisposed (DK) and Melechesh (NL)! And if you're a really brutal(ly fine) person, you'll vote for them here to get them into the Z7 Metalfest with Six Feet Under, Nile, Finntroll and Belphegor.   5) PŸLON have found a new drummer: Marc Ricci will beat the heat out of the set not only at the Dawn Of Doom Festival on 10Nov in Einsiedeln (SZ), but also on the next album, DOOM.   6) SECONDHAND CHILD have found a new manager in Nando Rohner. The result: a successful concert in Liechtenstein, one with Pure Inc. in Germany and two very interesting interviews at Evilized.de and Medazzarock.ch!   7) TEMPESTA are headed to the US after their successes in the college radio hit lists; they will re-mix their last album,  Fulltime Joker, re-record one song and add one brand-new recording.     All band links

So, what have we learned today? – Guitars are loud and metal is alive and kicking in the Heavy Metal Nation Switzerland. … And we’ll meet again at the Metalbörse or True As Steel (or both!) on 20Oct! We wish – and present – you all the best, Jan & Matt
